The moon shone through the greenhouse. Neville tended to his midnight orchids. It was his eighth year, and he was glad to have another crack at finishing his studies. Seventh year had been a nightmare.
Footsteps sounded behind him. It was Snape.
“I have permission to be here,” Neville said.
“I know. May I help you?”
Neville gulped. “Sure … but you will need to get your hands dirty. The earth is cold at this time of night.”
Snape smiled. “I don’t mind a bit of chilly soil.”
They worked in silence, and Neville felt the heat of Snape’s body.
